On Thursday, a gardener made a chilling discovery at his employers’ Westville residence, where he found the lifeless bodies of the elderly couple. Paramedics from Advanced Life Support, summoned to the scene shortly before noon, responded to the incident.

According to Garrith Jamieson of Advanced Life Support, the gardener had been unable to gain access to the premises upon his arrival for work. It was then that he noticed two individuals lying in a pool of blood in the dining room.

Paramedics subsequently entered the house, discovering a man and a woman believed to be in their eighties, both of whom had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Regrettably, both victims displayed no signs of life and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Lt. Col Nqobile Gwala, a spokesperson for the KwaZulu-Natal police, verified the discovery of the deceased couple, aged 81 and 82, inside the residence. The incident is currently under investigation as a murder case, and an inquest has been initiated.
