In a grim incident, seven individuals, all believed to be in their thirties and suspected of criminal activity in the area, were found dead with gunshot wounds to the head and body under a bridge in KwaMashu, situated north of Durban.

According to Brig Jay Naicker, the spokesperson for KwaZulu-Natal police, the KwaMashu police department received information regarding the discovery of these men, who had been attacked and shot. The gruesome find was made beneath a railway bridge, located at the intersection of Malandela Road and the M25 off-ramp, at 11 pm on Monday.

“All seven of the deceased individuals, in their thirties, were found lying in a straight line next to a pillar of the railway bridge, each bearing gunshot wounds to the head and body. The police recovered 18 spent 9mm cartridges at the crime scene,” explained Naicker.

Information gathered at the scene suggests that these men resided beneath the railway bridge and were engaged in criminal activities within the vicinity.

The current working theory is that this incident is linked to vigilantism. Detectives from the provincial organized crime unit have taken charge of the case docket and express their confidence in making progress in their investigation.
