Renowned American comedian and actor Tiffany Haddish was apprehended on Friday, November 24, in Beverly Hills on suspicion of driving under the influence, as confirmed by Lieutenant Chris Coulter of the Beverly Hills Police Department, reported TMZ.
The incident unfolded at approximately 5:45 am when Haddish was found asleep behind the wheel in the middle of Beverly Drive. Police promptly responded to the scene, and the comedian cooperatively accepted her arrest. TMZ notes that Haddish will be cited for DUI and was subsequently released.
The arrest follows Haddish’s performance at The Laugh Factory in West Hollywood on Thursday evening, where she contributed to the club’s 43rd annual free Thanksgiving feast for the community. Despite the festive event captured by local TV news, Haddish’s arrest has drawn attention to her previous DUI-related offense.
Earlier in 2022, Tiffany Haddish faced a similar situation in Georgia. The local police department’s statement outlined that she was arrested after driving into the yard of a residence in Peachtree City. Authorities responded to a report around 2:30 a.m. about a driver asleep at the wheel on Highway 74. Following a traffic stop, Haddish was arrested, with officers suspecting marijuana use. She was released after posting a $1,666 (R31,331) bail.
