Tragedy struck on Tuesday night as Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu was reportedly shot and killed at his residence in KwaZulu-Natal. Ndlovu served as the Chief Whip of the uMngeni Municipal Council.
The DA’s provincial leader, Francois Rodgers, issued a brief statement extending condolences to Ndlovu’s wife and children. Rodgers emphasized Ndlovu’s selfless dedication to the community, stating, “He will be sorely missed.” The DA urged the South African Police Services (SAPS) to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators responsible for Ndlovu’s death.
Details surrounding the circumstances of Ndlovu’s demise remain undisclosed at this point. uMngeni Mayor Chris Pappas described Ndlovu as “a great servant of the people” who gave tirelessly to the residents of uMngeni and Mpofana.
As the community mourns, Pappas requested thoughts and prayers for Ndlovu’s wife and young children, promising to provide updates as more information becomes available. “May his soul rest in peace,” Pappas added.
