Themba Dan Senama, a 50-year-old man, has been remanded in custody by the Belfast Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga after being apprehended by the Middelburg flying squad. Senama was arrested while driving a hijacked Volkswagen Polo vehicle. The interception occurred on the N4 Road in Belfast, hours after the vehicle was reported hijacked in Mamelodi, Gauteng. The suspect appeared in court, and the case was postponed to January 22 for further investigations. Police suspect collaboration with others, and additional charges may be added to Senama’s charge sheet. The ongoing investigation could lead to more arrests, and police are committed to curbing motor vehicle theft and hijacking in collaboration with the public and law enforcement agencies. Provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela commended the arrest and recovery of the hijacked vehicle, emphasizing continuous efforts in combating such crimes. Last year, Standerton police in Mpumalanga recovered a stolen vehicle in a successful operation.
