A man from Limpopo is set to appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on murder charges after allegedly bludgeoning his 68-year-old girlfriend. The incident occurred around 4 am on Sunday, February 4, in Ramotshinyadi village, Mokwakwaila policing area, Mopani District. Police responded to a clinic call and discovered the lifeless body of the elderly woman in their residence. Preliminary investigations indicate a confrontation between the suspect and the victim, resulting in the woman being struck with a brick on the forehead. Despite emergency medical services’ efforts to transport her for treatment, she succumbed to severe wounds upon hospital arrival. The suspect, whose age is yet to be determined, was promptly arrested, and murder charges are pending.
In a separate case, a 23-year-old man is slated to appear in the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court on Monday, February 5, facing a murder charge. The suspect allegedly stabbed a man during a confrontation with his mother near a tavern. The preliminary report suggests that the suspect, informed of the assault on his mother, rushed to the scene, found the victim arguing with his mother, and stabbed him in the upper body. The victim later died in the hospital. The suspect was apprehended at his residence, and the weapon used in the stabbing was surrendered to authorities. Police investigations are ongoing in both cases.
