Tragedy struck in Phoenix north of Durban on Friday night as a 52-year-old man lost his life in a fatal shooting. The incident occurred in the Sunford area, where the victim was gunned down while sitting in his car, as reported by KwaZulu-Natal VIP Protection Services.

According to KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala, the assailants approached the victim’s vehicle in another car and opened fire. The 52-year-old man succumbed to gunshot wounds, and the incident is now the subject of a murder investigation. Gwala stated, “A case of murder was opened for investigation at Phoenix SAPS.”

In an unrelated incident in Phoenix, a 46-year-old man from Johannesburg met a similar fate on February 10. While celebrating a friend’s birthday at a local bar, the man became involved in a shootout with gunmen attempting to rob the establishment. The incident, reported by Reaction Unit South Africa, occurred in the early hours of a Saturday morning two weeks ago.

Rusa director Prem Balram recounted that the victim drew his firearm and shot one of the suspects during the attempted robbery. However, the situation took a tragic turn as another suspect unleashed a volley of shots, fatally striking the man in his head and body. The victim was not only a casualty of the incident but was also robbed of his firearm during the unfortunate event.
