Police Minister Bheki Cele, accompanied by the management of the South African Police Service (SAPS) led by Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, is set to visit the family of missing Joshlin Smith in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape, on Saturday morning. The engagement comes in response to erroneous reports circulating about the search for Joshlin, who disappeared on February 19.

Joshlin, a Grade 1 Diazville Primary School pupil, was last seen wearing a light blue T-shirt and denim shorts. The police, led by Sergeant Millstine, continue their ongoing efforts to locate her and reunite her with her family. Minister Cele will update the family on the progress of the investigation during the visit.

The City of Cape Town has deployed additional resources to Saldanha Bay to support the search for Joshlin after the police reallocated their resources. The search involves investigators, K9 unit search dogs, drones, Marine Unit members, boats, and experienced volunteers.

Members of the public with any information on Joshlin’s whereabouts are urged to contact Sergeant Millstine at 079 879 8588, Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or Missing Children SA at 072 6477464. The community engagement is scheduled to commence at 11:30 am at the White City Multipurpose Centre in Saldanha Bay.
