The KwaZulu-Natal police have issued a plea to the public for assistance in the investigation of a shooting incident on a bus in Newlands, which resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to two others.
According to Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala, a shooting incident was reported on Wednesday afternoon on a bus traveling along Newlands West Drive. Initial reports indicate that passengers aboard a privately owned bus came under fire from unidentified assailants.
Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that three passengers had sustained gunshot wounds, with a 52-year-old woman tragically succumbing to her injuries. The other two victims were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
Gwala emphasized the importance of public cooperation in providing any relevant information or eyewitness accounts related to the incident. She assured the public that all information received would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Medical Service, confirmed the severity of the situation, noting that paramedics responded to multiple calls regarding the shooting. Sadly, one woman in her fifties was pronounced dead at the scene, while another man sustained back injuries and was transported to the hospital for further treatment.
