Tensions surged in the border region of Belgorod as Ukrainian bombardments inflicted injuries on five individuals, according to statements from the regional governor on Tuesday, underscoring the intensifying exchange of fire between Kyiv and Moscow.

In recent weeks, the frontier area has witnessed a notable increase in Ukrainian assaults, alongside infiltrations by pro-Kyiv militias composed of Russian nationals opposing the Kremlin’s stance.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the Belgorod region, took to social media to report that separate bombardments targeting two villages resulted in injuries. He noted that incoming projectiles were intercepted by air defense systems, with wounded individuals receiving medical attention.

Among the wounded were two firefighters from one of the affected villages, where several residences sustained damage. Russia’s defense ministry disclosed that air defense systems successfully intercepted 13 Vampire rockets launched by Ukrainian forces.

Conversely, Russia has heightened its own offensive operations within Ukraine, targeting critical infrastructure such as power stations and disrupting electricity provision to tens of thousands of Ukrainians.
