In a brutal incident, three individuals were shot execution-style on Wednesday at around 11 am shortly after leaving a local court. Police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker reported that the victims, whose ages remain unknown, were ambushed by suspects traveling in two vehicles as they were about to enter the main road.

“The driver and his two passengers had just left the local court when they were cornered by the suspects. The attackers opened fire on the vehicle, killing all three occupants instantly, before fleeing the scene,” Naicker explained.

Naicker also disclosed that the deceased were allegedly robbed of their firearms during the attack. “The motive for the attack remains unclear at this time, and detectives at Hibberdene are actively investigating the triple murder,” he added.

This chilling event echoes a similar incident in the Western Cape last year, where a woman was killed near the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court in May 2023. At that time, police spokesperson Malcolm Pojie provided details of the murder, stating that the unknown female victim was approached by gunmen who shot her fatally as she walked near the court.

“Preliminary reports reveal that the woman was walking in the street near the court when she was approached by unknown gunmen who started shooting at her, wounding her fatally. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene and was declared dead by medical personnel,” Pojie said.

Shamila Nicholas, representing the Wynberg Community Policing Forum (CPF), mentioned that the woman was believed to be a witness attending a court case and that she was followed out of the court before being attacked.

The recent triple murder has raised serious concerns about safety and security, especially around court premises. As investigations continue, the community awaits answers and justice for the victims of this horrific crime.
