Hezbollah has expressed support for any efforts aimed at ending the ongoing war in Lebanon but remains skeptical about a specific U.S. administration’s ability to broker a ceasefire, according to a statement from Hezbollah lawmaker Ibrahim al-Moussawi on Thursday.

In remarks made to Reuters, Moussawi responded to questions about the potential impact of Donald Trump’s election victory on the conflict. “It might be a change in the party who is in power, but when it comes to Israel, they have more or less the same policy,” Moussawi said, emphasizing that Hezbollah is more focused on seeing tangible actions rather than political rhetoric.

The lawmaker reiterated the group’s stance that it seeks “actions, not words” and “decisions to be taken” in the pursuit of peace.

The ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, which has intensified in recent months, has been a parallel front to the broader Gaza war. Since late September, fighting along the Israel-Lebanon border has escalated, with Israeli forces increasing airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon, while also carrying out ground incursions into Lebanese border villages.

The exchange of fire between the two parties has raised concerns about the potential for further regional instability.
