Four children have been hospitalized with life-threatening burns following a shack fire in Lwandle on Sunday night, 10 November. The fire broke out in Noxolo Road around 22:45, prompting a swift response from firefighting crews. Units from Strand, Sir Lowry’s Pass, and Mitchells Plain fire stations were dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters managed to contain the blaze to a single structure by 23:10. However, four minors—aged 3, 10, and two 11-year-olds—suffered severe burns and were rushed to Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
