Disaster management teams in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) are on high alert following a Level 8 weather warning issued by the South African Weather Service.

The severe weather is expected to bring heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, which may lead to localized flooding and overflowing rivers, particularly at low-water bridges. These conditions are likely to disrupt major routes across the province, posing challenges for commuters and emergency services alike.

KZN Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) Spokesperson, Senzelwe Mzila, urged residents to exercise caution, stay updated on weather alerts, and avoid crossing flooded areas.

Emergency teams remain on standby to mitigate potential damage and assist affected communities. Residents are advised to report emergencies promptly and heed safety guidelines to minimize risks during this period of inclement weather.
