Cape Town – Police in Manenberg have arrested two men on drug possession charges following targeted operations in the area and in Khayelitsha.
Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg confirmed that officers were deployed to Jenny Schneider Street on Wednesday, where they uncovered a significant stash of illegal substances.
“They confiscated 1,026 mandrax tablets found in the house. A 26-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs,” said Twigg.
Later that day, police conducted a separate operation in Khayelitsha, resulting in the arrest of a 33-year-old man.
“During a search of the premises, officers found one medium-sized plastic packet of crystal meth, nine mandrax tablets, 13 half mandrax tablets, and eight quarter mandrax tablets,” Twigg reported.
Both suspects are expected to make separate appearances in the Athlone and Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Courts once formal charges are laid.
Police have reiterated their commitment to tackling drug-related crime and urged residents to report any suspicious activity anonymously.
